Client: Private residential client
Location: Sandown, Johannesburg
Project type: Full-wall studio acoustic treatment
Application: Home podcasting studio
The Challenge
This client wanted their own private podcasting studio built into their Sandown residence, giving them the ability to work from home without compromising on professional sound quality. A home setup needed to perform to the same standard as a commercial studio, with full control over reflections and unwanted noise.
Our Solution
I fitted the space with specialised studio absorption panels across all the walls, maximising coverage to minimise reflective surface area. To fine-tune the sound further, I incorporated diffusion to manage the small percentage of reflection that remained (around 10% or less), giving the room a balanced, controlled acoustic profile rather than an overly dead one.

The Result
The client now has a fully functional home podcasting studio with broadcast-ready acoustics, letting them record and work from home with confidence. The combination of absorption and diffusion strikes the right balance between control and natural sound.
