Client: Music School
Location: Johannesburg, Gauteng
Project type: Full acoustic treatment installation
Application: Music tuition and group recording studio
The Challenge
This Johannesburg music school needed a jam room that could serve two purposes at once, a functional space for one-on-one and group instrument tuition, and a studio capable of handling group recordings. That dual purpose meant the acoustic treatment had to do more than just dampen noise, it needed to create a balanced, accurate sound environment suitable for a wide range of instruments and recording scenarios.
Our Solution
Decibel Zero designed a treatment plan combining both high and low frequency absorption, ensuring the room handles everything from sharp percussive transients to low-end bass tones without any single frequency range dominating the space. The result is a room that sounds as good as it looks, with panels arranged to support both teaching and recording use.

The Result
The jam room now offers a beautifully balanced acoustic environment, equally suited to teaching sessions and group recordings. With even absorption across the frequency spectrum, students and musicians get an accurate, uncoloured sound whether they're learning an instrument or laying down a track.
